Mike is a native Floridian born in West Palm Beach. After high school graduation Mike pursued and completed his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Soon after Mike was hired by Barnett Bank as a consumer lending officer. While working full time and pursuing his MBA Mike was always interested in his sister’s medical stories as a RN at a local hospital. After much thought, Mike chose to put his MBA classes on hold and began taking pre-requisite courses for nursing. Soon after he was accepted to PBCC’s Registered Nurse Program and he left Barnett Bank to pursue his nursing degree. He graduated with an A.S. degree in nursing at PBCC, he then subsequently completed his Bachelor of Science of Nursing at Barry University in Miami, and his Masters of Science at Florida Atlantic University.
Mike worked for 15 years at St. Mary’s Medical Center. During his employment there as a RN he worked the ER, ICU, and Trauma Resuscitation. He went on to work as a Nurse Practitioner at St. Mary’s adult and pediatric ERs, as well as Good Samaritan’s ER. Wanting a change in environment and slightly slower pace, Mike went to work for Tequesta Urgent Care, during his 5+ years there he independently saw over 30,000+ patient visits ranging from the common cold to active heart attacks and strokes. In April 2012 Mike accepted a position with David Campbell MDPA spine surgery. At our office Mike is responsible for evaluation and treatment of all of our spine patients, hospital rounds, and assisting in surgery.
When not at the office Mike is also busy working for his medical device company. In 2008 he partnered with a surgeon-intensivist friend and brought a new airway product to market. Currently his product the “Rescue Cath” is used in Intensive Care Units across the United States for patients on a ventilator. The product is sold by 10 medical specialty distributors nationwide. The company is getting ready to launch a Pediatric version of the “Rescue Cath” this year. The “Rescue Cath” currently has 6 publications to date.
Mike lives in Tequesta on the water off of the inlet. He enjoys fishing, and diving. He regularly goes to the Florida Keys for lobster season and stocks up on “bugs” for the year. When not fishing he enjoys working on his 150 gallon salt water tank and caring for his dogs. Mike’s bucket list includes fishing trips to Alaska, Oregon, Washington, and Montana, as well as visits to Ireland, Australia and the Baltic.
